🧬 #1: Type 2 diabetes is a genetic disease.
Many people often confuse type 1 diabetes, which is genetics-based, with type 2 diabetes, which is more influenced by lifestyle habits and environmental factors.

🍬 #2: Eating a lot of sugar causes diabetes.
Our body converts the sugar we eat into glucose, which is then used by our body as energy. Glucose causes our blood sugar to rise, but this doesn’t mean that eating sugar directly causes diabetes. However, a diet rich in sugar can lead to a higher waist circumference, which is a risk factor for type 2 diabetes.

🥗 #3: I need to go on a special diet.
Many people believe that they have to stop enjoying cultural foods and start a strict diet in order to manage their diabetes. In reality, diabetes can be managed as long as you have a balanced diet and exercise regularly.
